Genesis
This is my third collaboration with Kim Vetter. Genesis was performed by the Lane Dance Company (Eugene, Oregon) in 2005. This is a mostly abstract work that mines the concepts of evolution (Darwinism) for the wealth of images and sound they suggest. Almost all of the music is vocal, though some of the singing has been altered by distortion. I recycled older material for the source, but rebuilt the music from the base vocal samples to create entirely new works. This music has been combined with new sections that draw their inspiration from club music. In performance Genesis is one continuous piece. I present it here in four parts:
